On September 26, 2015, we had a reunion
for our batch at The Bayleaf Intramuros along Muralla Street in
Intramuros, Manila, Philippines.
It's already 23 years since
our graduation at Mapua Institute of Technology in 1992. Our graduation
was held at Philippine international Convention Center (PICC). We
finished B. S. Chemical Engineering and B. S. Chemistry. There are more
women than men in our batch.
Since I have a plan to visit in
Philippines, then I decided to have a reunion with my classmates or
batchmates. With the help of my classmates and our professor, Mrs.
Elizabeth So Espiritu, they suggested to have our reunion at The Bayleaf
Intramuros which is located besides the building of Mapua institute of
Technology. When I checked their website and make a phone call to their
office, I learned that it is a five star hotel. It is also a former
main office of Philippine Savings Bank during our college days. We used
to go to that building to have a Xerox or photocopy of documents,
reports, and books.
With the help of our other classmates, we
got a good attendance. We are 18 in our reunion and I made a reservation
for 15 people at the hotel. Some of our classmates are in abroad and
some of them have appointments. We invited our professors but
unfortunately, they didn't make it in our reunion.
We supposed
to have our reunion at The Skydeck which is the rooftop of the hotel.
We chose The Skydeck because you will see the scenic view of Manila
particularly Manila City Hall, Intramuros, and the campus building of
Mapua. Because of the rain and the rectangular tables are already
occupied, then we decided to move at The Spoons which is the next lower
floor of The Skydeck. Since the menu at The Skydeck and The Spoons are
the same, then we decided also to have our reunion at The Spoons.
Before we proceed to the hotel, we had a tour first at Mapua Institute
of Technology. We want to see the campus again after 23 years. Most of
our classmates didn't see the campus since our graduation. Also, many of
us didn't see each other and because of this, our reunion became
memorable.
Well, the menu is ala carte and we ordered different
side dishes, main dishes, soups, drinks, and 1 bottle of hard drink.
While eating, we are socializing and chatting to each other. Because of
socializing and chatting, we didn't order the dessert. Anyway, our
reunion was so memorable.
This event is also a birthday
celebration of Lourdes Colobong, one of our classmate. The hotel gave a
slice of cake to her for free.
After the reunion, some of our
classmates gave the carpool to our other classmates. Because of having
social media like Facebook, it is possible to have a reunion and keep in
touch with classmates and professors.

I went to Boomtown Hotel and Casino on September 6, 2015 to have a
lobster buffet there. Boomtown Hotel and Casino is now a popular
restaurant for serving lobster buffet. The lobster buffet is available
every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2:00pm to 9:00pm.
I drove from Vacaville, California to Verdi, Nevada thru I-80 East. Thanks God that there's no traffic.
They have a promotion right now. They have also lobster buffet on Labor Day (Monday). The price per person is $34.95 including drinks.

Thanks God that I was able to have a lobster buffet. I was so
disappointed at Jackson Rancheria Hotel and Casino because all coupons
and stubs are sold out. Unlike at Boomtown Hotel and Casino, no need for
the coupons and stubs.
I ate five lobsters in the buffet but it
is worth full. Imagine at any supermarket, the price of fresh lobster
is $14 per pound and it depends with the market price and season.
If you will eat lobsters and Alaskan crab legs, try to put squeezed
lemon in order to neutralize the fishy taste. Also, they are best to eat
with melted butter preferably with garlic.
If you will plan to visit at Boomtown Hotel and Casino, try to arrive early as much as you can because the line is also long.

I went to Jackson Rancheria Casino on
September 5, 2015 to have a lobster buffet there. Jackson Rancheria is
also a busy casino like Cache Creek. They have hotels aside from casino
and restaurants.
Unfortunately, I was not able to have a lobster buffet because the coupons or stubs are already sold out or gone.
Their "Fisherman's Wharf" Buffet is open only on Friday and Saturday
from 3:00pm to 11:00pm. I left from Newark, California at 3:00pm and
because of heavy traffic at I-580 East, I arrived at 8:00pm. A lot of
people inside the restaurant because of the three day weekend. It's
Labor Day on Monday.
I talked to the restaurant manager and she
apologized to everyone because many people are not able to make it for
the lobster buffet. She told us to come early like 2 to 3 hours earlier
in order to get the coupon or stub. This is first come first serve
restaurant and everyone should arrive early. Well, I learned from
experience and I know next time what will I do.
The good thing
is that I came by myself or else my other family members or friends will
be upset. My coworker at Morton Salt mentioned this buffet restaurant
to me because he likes to eat seafood and lobsters.
Well, folks arrive early by 2 to 3 hours before 3:00pm on Friday or Saturday in order to get a coupon or stub.
By the way, the price per person is $29.95. This is good price also. It

On August 1, 2015, we went to Cache Creek Hotel and Casino in Brooks, California, USA with my mother together with her friends and former coworkers at Portal Publishing, Inc.
They had their mini-reunion at my house in Vacaville, California at noon till afternoon. My mother cooked Filipino dishes like Kare-Kare with Bagoong, Mechado, Leche Flan, Halo-Halo, Biko, and Cassava Cake. After their mini-reunion, we went to Vacaville Premium Outlet to buy their things that they need at home for wholesale or factory price.
After, their shopping at Vacaville Premium Outlets, we went all together to Cache Creek Hotel and Casino. We had a dinner there before we begin with playing of slot machines, roulette, and cards. We spend our night there till 3:00 am.
