On October 7, 2015, I went back home to
California, USA and my vacation in Philippines is over. Although my
vacation days in Philippines is only 15 days, I enjoyed it in spite of
heavy rains and traffic. The heavy traffic is not only in Metro Manila
but also in the provinces as well. Philippines is more crowded after 6
years. I visited in Philippines in 2009. During my vacation days, I spent my time in traveling and visiting my Alma Matter, classmates, friends, family friends, and relatives. Me and my mother arrived in Philippines last September 23, 2015. My cousin, Rodelio Magtalas and my aunts Leonila Magtalas, and Estelita Zapanta picked up us at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). We enjoyed all foods and dishes in Philippines that we didn't eat for a long time already and also the fruits and desserts there. We left earlier from Baliuag, Bulacan at around 12:00pm because of the possible heavy traffic and rains especially in Metro Manila area. Thanks God that we arrived at NAIA in Parañaque City around 5:30pm. Not bad because my flight schedule is 10:00pm via Philippine Airlines FT 104. Since there's no fast food chains and restaurants inside the airport at Terminal 3, we decided to have our dinner at their main canteen. The restaurants are far from the airport and it is hard also to find the parking spot in the airport as well. It is better to eat in the restaurants rather than in the airport canteen because the foods are expensive. My cousin, Rodelio Magtalas, my aunts Leonila Magtalas and Estelita Zapanta, and my mother, Rosario Balajadia send and dropped me off at the airport. My mother will stay for another 15 days and she will be back home in USA on October 21, 2015 in order for her to enjoy her vacation for exactly one month. I noticed that there's no Terminal Fee at the airport. The Terminal Fee is already waived or abolished since February 2015. The Terminal Fee was PHP 500 for domestic flights and PHP 750 for international flights. Thanks God that everything was alright after I checked in my luggages. My aunts and cousins helped me in weighing and packing my things at my two luggages. The limit weight of a luggage is 50 pounds and 15 pounds for a handcarry bag. A laptop computer is free to carry inside the airport and plane as well. My travel back in California, USA is a straight flight for 12 hours without a stop over. While traveling, I ate a snack and two meals. I can't sleep well inside the plane. Thanks God that I slept light for at least 4 to 6 hours. Until now, there's no wifi inside the airplanes of Philippine Airlines. I don't have a choice is to try to sleep or nap as much as I can. The other airlines have wifi but mostly they are not free and you have to pay it using your credit card. Finally, we arrived at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on October 7, 2015 at 7:00pm. Since we passed the International Dateline while traveling, we arrived on the same date. Philippines is 15 hours ahead from California during daylight saving time and 16 hours during winter time. The immigration department at SFO is still very strict and thanks God that everything was alright especially to the things that I brought from Philippines. They are strict with fresh fruits with seeds from other countries as well as the living things like animals and plants. They are trying to avoid the spread of diseases especially the contagious one from other countries. My brother, Addison Balajadia picked me up from SFO airport at 8:00pm and then we proceed to Vacaville, California at my other house. After I distributed and organized all my things that I brought, I took my rest and then sleep deeply because I have to go back to work at Morton Salt on the following day on October 8, 2015. #MNL #NAIA #PAL #Parañaque #Rizal #SFO #Millbrae #California On October 7, 2015, I went back home to California, USA and my vacation in Philippines is over. Departure from Philippines (2015)
Last Day Tour in Philippines (2015)
On October 7, 2015, before we went to
Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Parañaque City,
Philippines, we travelled from Baliuag, Bulacan, the rest of towns in
Bulacan thru North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Caloocan City, Quezon City,
Mandaluyong City, Makati City, Pasay City, and Parañaque City thru EDSA,
Tramo Boulevard, Domestic Avenue, and finally Airport Avenue.
We left earlier around 12:00pm from Baliuag, Bulacan because we know that traffic is so terrible and heavy especially in Metro Manila Area. There was a rain that why the traffic is more terrible and heavy.
The province of Bulacan is also crowded because there are many shopping malls, establishments, and subdivisions. There are many companies and industries as well that's why the province is also crowded. Although my vacation is only 15 days, I enjoyed it with my relatives at my mother's side. My aunts cooked our meals during our stay. I'm the one will go back home in USA and my mom will go back home on October 21, 2015. She will complete her 1 month vacation exactly unlike me, it's only 15 days.
We visited also our relatives and family friends in Caloocan City. Caloocan City is also crowded when I visit it after 6 years. We used to live there and spend my childhood days. The traffic along Samson Road, Rizal Avenue, 10th Avenue, Monumento, and EDSA are terrible and heavy.
At around 2:30pm, we proceed to NAIA in Parañaque City thru EDSA. We passed Caloocan City, Quezon City, Mandaluyong City, Makati City, Pasay City, and then Parañaque City. From EDSA, we took Tramo Boulevard, Domestic Avenue, and then Airport Avenue. We finally arrived at the airport around 5:30pm. Not bad because the traffic along EDSA is moderate.
This is my memorable visit in Philippines although my vacation is only 15 days. I would like to give thanks to my cousin, Rodelio Magtalas, who gave us a ride using her sister in law's minivan. I hope that I can visit in Philippines again on November 2017. I will attend our Silver Jubilarian later at MIT ChE Chm Alumni Homecoming.

Tour in Parañaque City, Philippines (2015)
On September 25, 2015, we had a tour in
Parañaque City, Philippines together with my cousin Rose Ann Zapanta,
and her friends Ronald Castro and Ronald Castro. The two Ronald Castro
are best friends and they are not related to each other.
From Baliuag, Bulacan, we traveled to Baclaran Area in Parañaque City to have our lunch at Dampa or Seaside Seafood. Seaside Seafood is located besides Baclaran Church or Redeptorist Church. Thanks God it's Friday because the area is not very crowded. The novena of Baclaran Church is scheduled anytime on Wednesdays and the area is so crowded during the novena. Also, the sidewalk vendors of Baclaran Church make the area crowded.
Anyway, the Seaside Seafood sells all kinds of seafood at anytime. It is also one of the tourists spot in Philippines especially to foreign visitors. It is established in 1974. Until now, Seaside Seafood is still in the business and it is already featured in magazines and tv shows.
We bought two crabs and one kilo of fresh squid. The price of two crabs is PHP 580 and the price of one kilo of squid is PHP 320. Not bad for 4 people. After this, we went to 2nd floor to ask to cook our seafood. They cooked the crabs in chili garlic sauce while the squid into fried calamari and sizzling spicy. The total cost for cooking the seafood including rice and soft drinks is PHP 1,080. Not bad also for 4 people. This is cheaper compared with Chinese Restaurant and Seafood Restaurant. Everyone was so full because we ate many rice. If you eat seafood especially with the spicy sauce, then you will eat many rice also.
After this, we walk along Baclaran Church to have a short tour there. The Seaside Seafood is located along Roxas Boulevard corner Redemptorist Road in Parañaque City. You really need to find a better parking spot because the area is crowded especially during lunch time and dinner time.

First Day Tour in Philippines (2015)
After we arrived at Ninoy Aquino
International Airport (MNL) on September 23, 2015 at 4:00am, my
relatives like my aunts Leonila Magtalas and Estelita Zapanta and my
cousin Rodelio Magtalas gave us a tour ride after they picked up us from
the airport. Thanks God that our flight was good although there's a
rain with thunderstorms during our landing. The rain finally stopped
when we arrived at NAIA. Thanks God also that my luggage and my mom's
luggage are passed the X-ray inspection after we gave the Declaration
Form at the Immigration Department.
Well, from NAIA airport, the traffic begins at Airport Avenue, Domestic Avenue, Tramo Avenue, and then Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA). After 6 years since my last visit in 2009, the traffic conditions are worse than before and there are more vehicles as well. While driving along EDSA, there are more buildings, malls, and new establishments. There are many billboards along EDSA also.
When we reached to Balintawak Cloverleaf, the area is also congested in traffic especially along A. Bonifacio Avenue, Quirino Hi-way, and North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). The NLEX is better now than before because the highways are repaired and the systems of paying at the toll gates are now different also. The traffic there is lesser and faster.
When we exit at Santa Rita exit in Guiguinto, Bulacan, the roads are now crowded with many vehicles like jeepneys and trycycles. The province of Bulacan is now crowded also because there are many factories, industries, subdivisions, and shopping malls. It is also close to Manila.
Once we reached to Baliuag, Bulacan, we went first to Baliuag Memorial Park to visit the grave of my grandparents and my uncles at their mausoleum. My mother didn't see the grave of her parents and her brothers for 12 years. The memorial park is expensive and most of the graves there are came from the rich and business families. We made a promise that we will improve the mausoleum of my grandparents and my uncles later.
Our hometown in Baliuag, Bulacan is also crowded. There are many subdivisions as well as shopping malls like SM Baliuag. The traffic is also congested especially during rush hours and raining. I almost got lost there in finding my grandparents' residence because the surrounding is now different than the last time that I visited in 2009. They put blue gates at my grandparents' residence. The caimito trees that we planted since 1975 are still there at the backyard.
After this, we sleep for few hours because we have jet lag. The time in Philippines is 15 hours ahead from California. The weather here in Philippines is warm right now like 95*F during daylight and 85*F during nighttime. We experienced sweating all the time because it is humid.

Arrival in Philippines (2015)
On September 21, 2015, I went to
Philippines with my mother, Rosario Magtalas Balajadia to have a
vacation there and to visit our relatives and friends.
My younger brother, Addison Magtalas Balajadia gave us a ride and dropped off at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) in Millbrae, California.
Later, my other brother, Alfredo Magtalas Balajadia, Jr. and his family as well as his mother in law visited us at the lobby of SFO before we checked in at the Departure Area.
Thanks God that everything was alright and no problems with the weight of our baggage as well as our hand carry bags.
The plane, Philippine Airlines FL 105 departed on September 21, 2015 at 11:30pm. The flight stewards and stewardess are very friendly and approachable. Our flight took about 14 hours and no stop over.
Finally, we arrived on September 23, 2015 at 4:00am at Terminal 2 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) in Parañaque City, Philippines. Thanks God that the rain and thunderstorms are stopped during the landing at MNL.
Thanks God also that we don't have problems also with our baggage and hand carry bags at the immigration officers after we gave our declaration forms.
My aunts, Leonila Magtalas and Estelita Zapanta as well as my cousin, Rodelio Magtalas picked up us at the Arrival Area of MNL. After this, we went straight to our hometown in Baliuag, Bulacan to have our rest because of jet lag. Philippines is 15 hours ahead from California.
